De nos jours, les réseaux sociaux sont communément disponibles et utilisés par des groupes de personnes d'âge différent. Ceux-ci sont particulièrement utilisés afin de communiquer avec d'autres utilisateurs mais parfois cela tourne à l'addiction, quand les personnes les surutilisent. Ce phénomène appartient à la soi-disant dépendance comportementale qui, seulement récemment, est apparue au sein de la littérature scientifique. Il est crucial de différencier quand l'utilisation des réseaux sociaux est normale et quand elle passe au-delà des normes sociétales. Cet article dépeint les données concernant l'expansion du phénomène d'addiction aux réseaux sociaux, ses modèles théoriques et la possibilité de l'identifier à la base de critères de diagnostics offerts par les scientifiques.

Nowadays social networking sites are commonly available and used by people in different age groups. These are used especially to communicate with other users but sometimes it turns into addiction, when people overuse it. This phenomenon belongs to so-called behavioural addiction which, only recently, has been described in scientific literature. It is crucial to differentiate when using social networking sites is normal and when it goes beyond the social norms. The article depicts the data concerning the spread of the social networking sites addiction phenomenon, its theoretical models and the possibility to identify it on the basis of diagnostic criteria offered by scientists.
